SMART-ECO
The Smart-ECO consortium brings together twelve experienced partners from different parts of the built sector stakeholder community. The partnership has collaborated on previous projects and want to take a proactive role in developing viable strategies for eco-building at the EU level. Brief information about the partners and roles in SMART-ECO is as follows:
- BMG: Project co-ordinator (WP1 leader), R&D into life performance aspects and sustainability for buildings, extensive interaction with international and European standards activities.
- CSTB: Built sector know-how in all relevant areas, building regulations at EU, WP leader for creating the Smart-ECO vision and requirement (WP2 vision and requirements)
- Tallinn University of Technology: Performance based building, involved in several work packages. Hosting 1st Smart-ECO Conference
- Servitec: Association of construction companies, supply-chain know-how, assist in creation of the Stakeholder group, involved in main work packages.
- TNO: Detailed knowledge of built sector and issues important for sustainability, this know-how is to be used to guide the work in WP4 (Evaluation of technologies) where it will be WP Leader.
- SINTEF: Research institute for the built environment, know-how in all areas of sustainable buildings including innovations needed for eco-building, good infrastructure in place for networking, role in Smart-ECO is to co-ordinate the dissemination activities (WP6 Dissemination)
- FH-Soest: environmental systems, extensive industrial collaborations in the area of renewable energy systems, involved in several work packages and leading detailed tasks to be carried out.
- Politecnico di Milano: R&D into innovative architectural design, energy and performance based building, role in Smart-ECO involved in several work packages and leading tasks in holistic building design.
- Endoenergy Systems Ltd: Solar thermal energy systems, knowledge of supply chain for renewable energy systems, role in Smart-ECO manager of the stakeholder group (WP5 Stakeholders).
- Hywel Davies Consultancy: involved in international standardisation, sustainability in building issues, life performance, role in Smart-ECO work package leader for exploitation (WP7 Exploitation).
- Mace: international company with wide portfolio of activities in the construction sector from client to building operator, considerable knowledge of all relevant issues for Smart-ECO and areas of concern needing development, role in Smart-ECO work package leader (WP3 Innovation).
- CIB is the international council for research and innovation in building and construction. The members are conducting numerous R&D work groups, among many others also on thematic issues related to sustainability and performance-based building. Additional to the research agendas, CIB has considerable experience in organizing international conferences and workshops, and hold an outstanding international network of researchers as well as stakeholders. Their role in Smart-ECO is to assist in setting up the stakeholder group (in coordination with the other cluster projects), to produce and distribute the newsletters, as well as to assist in the conduction of workshops and conferences.
